Benjamin Ruffieux(1984) est un photographe ayant étudié à l’école de photographie de Vevey, en Suisse. A travaillé comme photographe de presse avant de partir naviguer sur les océans, en 2007. Il vit en semi-nomade depuis lors, à moitié dans les Alpes, à moitié en Mer.
En 2015, avec sa compagne Mélina Repond, il a fondé MaréMotrice. Cette association organise chaque été des résidences d’artistes à bord d’un voilier d’expédition solaire, à destination de l’Arctique.
Actuellement son travail de photographe indépendant et de skipper-curateur pour MaréMotrice poursuivent le même objectif: documenter l’évolution des régions polaires.
Il réalise ses tirages argentiques de grand format dans son propre atelier, sur le Col du Lautaret (Alpes françaises), où est établi son camp de base, à 2000 mètres au dessus du niveau de la mer.

Benjamin Ruffieux (1984) is a photographer who studied at the School of Photography in Vevey, Switzerland. He is an action-packed artist who worked as a press photographer before leaving to sail the oceans in 2007. He has been living as a semi-nomad since then, half of the times in the Alps, the other half at Sea.
In 2015, with his partner Mélina Repond, he founded the association MaréMotrice. Since then, every summer, he organizes artist residencies on board a solar expedition sailing ship bound for the Arctic.
Currently, his work as a freelance photographer and skipper-curator for MaréMotrice has the same objective: to document the evolution of the polar regions.
Benjamin Ruffieux makes his own (often big size) silver prints in his own darkroon, located in the french Alps.
